DRUM was approached by the HCPC (The Health and Care Professions Council) to create a 'Who we are' style of explainer animation that speaks to their service users/patients about the services the HCPC provide and how they protect the public.
The HCPC regulates a wide variety of Health and Care Professions, from Paramedics to Speech and Language Therapists. They do this by setting standards, ensuring continued development and education takes place, plus maintaining a register of professionals (also known as registrants) that the public can access for information. The HCPC will take action if its standards are not met.
Early on in the process, DRUM collaborated with the HCPC to create a script suitable for animation, establishing the key pieces of information and the tone of voice required. We communicated our ideas for the look and feel of the piece using moodboards and concept art. It was very important to the HCPC to use characters within the animation to make the organisation feel slightly less formal, yet retain a tone of seriousness about their work. Again, we conceived the characters and on approval created and rigged the character assets. We made the piece engaging, not just with characters, but with additional background detail, dynamic transitions and camera moves. We recorded a voiceover and used a music bed to finish the piece.
